11 What can be Done about it?

Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus[1] has given up on institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and even governments. He says they are notoriously slow and encourages young people to start a ‘social business[2]’ instead. Reading his book Creating a World without Poverty – Social Business and the Future of Capitalism[3] re-energised me so much that I not only organised an event for him but also started a blog[4]. As contributor I was joined by Dr. Lilly Evans[5] who had not only helped with the event but also supports my attempts to attract funding for 3D Metrics[6], the software company that I started in 2004.

With our Public Credit Petition, we appeal to Parliament via the Treasury Select Committee to influence the future of capitalism in a way that is gradual, measurable, sustainable and rational. Instead of succumbing to economic myths and inflation measured very short-term, we appeal to apply simple accounting procedures to evaluate the quality of our economy in addition to inflation and GDP.
