Edradour 12 YO Caledonia comes from Scotland's smallest distillery
Edradour 12 YO Caledonia is handmade single malt whisky that is manufactured in Scotland's smallest distillery via the small batch method. As small as the circumstances of its creation are, the whisky itself shows great potential. What you buy here is a special edition that pays tribute to the song "Caledonia" by Scottish folk singer Douglas McLean, who released the popular hit in 1977. "Caledonia" is the Latin term for Scotland, making Edradour 12 YO Caledonia a full-blooded embodiment of a connection to Scottish history and culture.
The initial maturation of the single malt whisky takes place in old bourbon casks, until it moves on into Oloroso sherry casks for the finishing touch. The manufacturing process is very traditional, which is what drew the singer McLean to the project in the first place. He enthusiastically agreed to join forces with the Edradour Distillery.
A unique single malt whisky
And the collaboration paid off deliciously: Edradour 12 YO Caledonia is a unique single malt whisky that every whisky lover should buy. Its creamy nose is characterised by different honey notes, dried fig, dates, sherry, and a hint of oak. The taste is incredibly soft with further honey nuances as well as full aromas of berry fruits, buttered toast, sherry again, toasted almonds and caramel. The finish of Edradour 12 YO Caledonia packs the explosive exit: it's a slightly spicy affair that rounds off the tasting experience with traces of cocoa.
Let this single malt breathe for a few days or even weeks after opening, before you have a sip. Skip the water and enjoy Edradour 12 YO Caledonia the way it was intended!
