Napoleon also loved Courvoisier Cognac!
Courvoisier was once the imperial purveyor to the court. This was around 1811, at the time when Napoleon was in power. His love for the high-quality cognac reached so far that Napoleon took several hundred bottles into exile on the island of St. Helena. Even today the nickname for Courvoisier Cognac "Le Cognac de Napoléon," is still used and Courvoisier is still loved by cognac lovers around the world. Although nowadays it is not necessarily emperors and kings who love the brand but rather music stars like Busta Rhymes, Diddy and Pharrell. The three even dedicated the song "Pass The Courvoisier" to the brand.
The house was founded by Felix Courvoisier
The cognac distillery was founded by Felix Courvoisier, after whom the brand was named. The distillery is located in Jarnac, a small village in the Cognac region. High quality standards are very important to Courvoisier. Therefore, the grapes for the brandy ripen exclusively in Premier Cru locations of the region, and in addition, only vines of the variety Ugni Blanc are used. After a two-time distillation of the base, the "heart" is further processed. The maturing of the distillates happens in oak barrels.
