The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve
The Highland Single Malt "The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve" was created in Speyside on the river Livet. It was conceived as a replacement for the 12-year-old Single Malt in Europe. The whisky is described as a stylistic homage to the founder of the Glenlivet distillery, George Smith.
Producer and storage
Glenlivet was the first distillery in the region to be licensed to distill whiskies and has been producing since 1824. Today it is one of the best-known and largest malt whisky distilleries. The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve matures in ex-Bourbon barrels, most of them belong to the First-Fill category - barrels in which no whisky has previously been stored. It is not known how many years the maturation takes.
Aroma
The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve unfolds as "typically Speyside" in the nose: with a fruity-sweet blend and light citrus aromas - including apples, pears, apricot and honey.
Flavor
The confirmation of the aromas can be experienced during tasting: "sweet" and "fruity" dominate as attributes here as well. The different notes are well balanced and combine to a very mild whisky.
