Buying Ming River Sichuan Baijiu and discovering a new world of taste
Ming River Sichuan Baijiu and taste something completely new: the unique drink comes from faraway China. There the Baijiu spirit (Chinese for "white alcohol") is already part of everyday life, which makes it the largest category of spirits in the world among the large population. In fact, Baijiu is produced in quantities larger than those of vodka and whisky (the next two largest spirits) combined. Finally, the drink finds its way to Europe and thus also to your home. Ming River Sichuan Baijiu is a drink that is guaranteed to impress your friends and family. It starts with the beautiful bottle design, reminiscent of a Chinese lantern, and continues to the taste and flexibility of use. We will introduce you to Ming River Sichuan Baijiu in more detail below!
A taste explosion
As soon as you sniff Ming River, you will notice its distinctive scent: It is filled with hints of guava, melon, papaya and green apple peel. A very promising start, which turns into pineapple, pink pepper and a hint of anise on the palate. We promise you: You have never tried anything like Ming River Sichuan Baijiu!
Such a special taste is of course ideal for mixing extravagant cocktails. The possibilities are endless. You can mix Ming River for example with Aperol, Amaro and lemon juice to a "Paper Crane" (as a Chinese variation of a "Paper Plane"). A "Sichuan Spritz" only needs Campari and blood orange lemonade besides the Baijiu. It also goes very well with St. Germain elderflower liqueur, honey syrup and lemon juice in a nicely frothy shaken drink according to the recipe of a New York professional bartender (he simply christened the cocktail "Yellow Drink #1"). No less exotic is the "The Cuban Baijiu Crisis" after Michael Thurm from the Berlin Bar Parker Bowles: Here Ming River Sichuan Baijiu meets Jägermeister, lemon juice, sugar syrup, mint leaves and - to fill it up - champagne. Let off steam with pleasure!
Made with a method over 700 years old
The drink is produced in Luzhou Laojiao, the oldest distillery in China, which has been located in the picturesque village of Luzhou on a river in the Szechuan region since 1573. Ming River Sichuan Baijiu is produced according to a tradition that has been in use there for over 700 years. The drink is based on red sorghum grain and pure spring water. A mixture of both is fermented with naturally cultivated wheat yeast in earth pits. After two months, the mash is removed from the pit and distilled in small batches in a traditional Chinese still. These distillates mature again for up to two years until the master blender marries them to Ming River Sichuan Baijiu.
