What does controversial rock star Marilyn Manson have in common with 19th century artists like Ernest Hemingway, Edgar Allan Poe, Oscar Wilde, Charles Baudelaire, Paul Gauguin, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Vincent van Gogh? It's pretty simple: He is a big fan of absinthe, the infamous highly alcoholic beverage originated in Switzerland in the late 18th century.
In July 2007, Marilyn Manson partnered with absinthe expert Markus Lion and multiple award-winning Swiss special distillery Matter-Luginbühl AG to launch his own absinthe, called Mansinthe.
Mansinthe is a natural absinthe that is distilled from vermouth, aniseed, fennel, and other fine herbs. Not pre-sweetened, it is made without artificial colourings for reasons of quality. Mansinthe was awarded a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2008.
