The University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) Team Transplant provides a life-changing wellness program for transplant recipients and their support team through regular exercise, healthy eating and community support, and promotes organ donation awareness.

BACKPACK BRIGADE

Backpack Brigade was founded in 2014, when volunteers were surprised to learn that a significant number of Seattle school children face hunger each weekend. Many displaced students rely solely on the free breakfasts and lunches they receive at school, so weekends and breaks leave them without a reliable source of food.

Now, every Thursday during the school year, our volunteers pack bags of nutritious, easy-to-eat food and drop them at area K-8 schools, where they are distributed to students in need. In addition, boxes of healthy snacks are delivered to area high schools for hungry older teens. Powered by volunteers and strengthened through donations and sponsors, Backpack Brigade aims to provide better food to more of Seattle’s hungry children each weekend.

TEAM SURVIVOR NORTHWEST

Our mission at Team Survivor Northwest is to provide a broad range of fitness and health education programs to enable women cancer survivors, in any stage of treatment or recovery and at any fitness level, to take an active role in their ongoing physical and emotional healing.

We believe in the power of fitness to improve women’s lives after a cancer diagnosis. Our belief is backed by research, science and women who have walked through our doors. Fitness and an active lifestyle not only improve outcomes but empower women survivors to feel better and thrive.
