Mastery Schools reposted this
Today marks the last day of school year 2023-2024. It was an amazing year for our 14,000 students and families and nearly 2,000 staff members! While we’re sad to say goodbye to our students for the summer, we’re excited about the gains they achieved this year and the significant momentum established in our classrooms. Student achievement is on the rise in all subject areas and at all grade levels. A new strategic plan was developed to accelerate improvement across our 24 schools, and a new facilities master plan is underway to upgrade our campuses across Philadelphia and Camden. It’s a great time to be at Mastery Schools and I’m looking forward to continuing to partner with our families and communities to ensure all students achieve their dreams upon graduation. #WeAreMastery #PHLed #NJed

As the 2023-2024 school year comes to a close, we are reflecting on our collective accomplishments. This year, we announced the expansion of bilingual programming in Camden, celebrated the opening of the state-of-the-art Mastery North Athletic Complex, launched a partnership with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Bloomberg Philanthropies to enhance postsecondary opportunities for students at Hardy Williams High, and increased starting salaries for teachers, underscoring our commitment to attracting and retaining the best educators for our students. Looking ahead, our new strategic plan will help sustain our momentum and ensure our students continue to grow and thrive through the prioritization of rigor and family academic partnerships. Thank you to our incredible staff, board members, donors, community partners, and supporters for an incredible year. We wish you a safe and happy summer. #WeAreMastery #PHLed #NJed

Leaders from the Mastery Parent Action Team (MPAT) and CEO Dr. Joel D. Boyd joined Philadelphia Charters for Excellence (PCE) in Harrisburg for a day of advocacy. The group met with 35 state senators and representatives to advocate for fair public education funding and push for charter school authorization reform to ensure continued success for our students. Partnerships with families and our collective action are crucial in fighting for fair choices for all families, and we are so thankful to our MPAT team for their continued advocacy efforts with state and local legislators. #WeAreMastery #PHLed #FamilyEngagement

Students from 18 Mastery schools showcased 100+ innovative projects at the second annual Mastery Schools STEM Fair at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. Our scholars were encouraged to think creatively, collaborate, and problem-solve, and we were truly amazed by their scientific creations. We would like to thank our dedicated staff, who guide and inspire our students daily, and the scientific leaders from the University of Pennsylvania, American Society for Microbiology, Temple University Medical School, and Haverford College for judging presentations. Congratulations to all the winners. We are so proud of you! #WeAreMastery #PHLed #NJed #StudentAchievement

Councilmember Jeffrey “Jay” Young, Jr. stopped by Douglass Elementary for his first visit as the new representative for the fifth district. During the visit, Douglass principal Monique Dolcy and Clymer Elementary principal Heather Scheg welcomed Young to the Mastery community, and parents shared heartfelt stories about the positive experiences within the network, which they say has had a transformational impact on their children. Thank you, Councilmember Young, for your visit and for the work you are doing for our students, staff, and families. #WeAreMastery #PHLed

More than 200 seniors and alumni from across the network gathered at the African American Museum in Philadelphia to explore diverse career paths and job opportunities at the Mastery Schools Career Fair. Organizations from Aramark and the City of Philadelphia to Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and the U.S. Marine Corps were eager to connect with our talented students to discuss job opportunities and long-term career pathways.
