Grad season is undeniably the best time of the year, and the Class of 2024 has truly shown what it means to be dedicated and make a difference in their communities. “Everything is possible,” says KIPP San Jose grad and 2024 #WebbScholar Alfredo Hernández Jr., who has recently achieved his dream of attending Harvard University, where he plans to study political science and one day become mayor to champion the Latino community in East San José. 🎉 We're thrilled to celebrate all of KIPP NorCal's graduating seniors, whose determination and perseverance have paved the way to the colleges and careers of their choice. Meet Winston Roberts, a KIPP New Jersey educator harnessing the power of AI to teach his students financial literacy, opening up incredible opportunities for their bright futures. "AI is the most transformational technology in the history of humankind," he says. "The question isn’t ‘Will our kids use it?’ It’s ‘Will we teach them to use it responsibly and effectively.’" Winston believes in the power of AI to transform education for all students. Meet Mahnaz Zahedi, KIPP Colorado Public Schools valedictorian and 2024 Goldberg Scholarship recipient! Mahnaz immigrated to the United States from Afghanistan in 2021 and plans to study international business to further her work helping refugee families navigate U.S. public schools. Mahnaz is focused on community development and participates in the National Honor Society, Student Board of Education, and Aid Earth Club. She plans to obtain a bachelor of science in international business to boost her understanding of the global marketplace’s complex interconnections and improve the global economy. Way to go Giselle Vazquez-Herrera! This KIPP Texas Public Schools Valedictorian will be studying political science at Brown University. 🎉 A mentor and the go-to translator for schoolwide events, she is vice president of her school’s chapter of La Sociedad. As a medal-winning track star, she founded her school’s debate team and aspires to help marginalized communities as an immigration attorney. Congrats #GoldbergScholar!

Angela Sien is a senior at KIPP NorCal who plans to study public health on a pre-medical track at the University of Pennsylvania Angela leads the Asian Pacific Islander affinity club, encouraging Asian-identifying students to build cultural belonging through shared experiences. An activist outside the classroom, she creates media content that spotlights high achievers from Asian ethnicities and has interviewed more than 25 Asian American and Pacific Islander peers regarding mental health and racism. She also explored barriers to campus sexual-violence prevention programs, particularly for people of color, implementing changes directly to Stanford’s sexual-violence prevention curriculum. Angela desires to use the interdisciplinary background she will gain in college to continue advocating for marginalized groups in and out of healthcare as she aspires to become a pediatrician.
