Release channels from your MCN

These features are only available to partners who use YouTube Studio Content Manager.

Remove a channel from your network

Multi-channel networks (MCNs) can release channels from their network using these steps:

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, select Channels .
  3. Search for the channel you want to release and select it.
  4. Click UNLINK and then CONFIRM.

Request to leave an MCN network

If you're an affiliate creator and you believe your contract with your MCN allows you to do so, you can request to remove MCN access from your channel from your channel.

Understand impact on claims

Claims generated by the channel’s assets may be released, depending on whether the asset ownership information is updated before the channel leaves the MCN:

  • If asset ownership is transferred to a new Content Manager before unlinking, all claims remain active.
  • If asset ownership is removed before unlinking, claims on both user-generated videos and videos uploaded by the channel you’re unlinking will be deactivated.
  • If asset ownership is not edited before unlinking, claims on user-generated videos will remain active. The reference file associated with those assets will be deactivated. All claims on videos uploaded by the channel you’re unlinking will be released.

Note: In some cases, channels released from your MCN and channels transferred between Content Managers will lose historical revenue data from the time they were part of your network. Channels may want to download or record revenue data before they're released or transferred. Learn more about changes to reporting after transferring channel ownership.
