Olalekan Oyeyemi, an appointee of Governor Ademola Adeleke standing trial for terrorism and unlawful killing, has been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun State.

Justice Emmanuel Ayoola, ruling on the bail application on Tuesday, granted bail to Oyeyeki in the sum of N50 million and required two sureties in the same sum. One surety must be a traditional ruler, submitting their instrument of appointment, while the other must either be a member of the National Assembly or a level 17 civil servant, providing their certificate of return or letter of appointment.

Additionally, Oyeymi, also known as ‘Emir’, must deposit N5 million and surrender his national passport to the court registry. He is also ordered to undertake to be of good behavior and not to interfere with the investigation to avoid jeopardizing his bail conditions.

Previously, Oyeyeki had been arraigned on ten counts including conspiracy, terrorism, unlawful killing, and arson. Initially denied bail, his counsel, Edmond Biriomoni, submitted a formal bail application, leading to this decision.

Security was tight during the hearing, with armed security personnel present within and outside the court premises, including three police patrol vehicles stationed outside. This measure aimed to prevent any potential attacks, especially following an incident during the last court session on March 19, where journalists were targeted.
