The Housesitting Company website was easy to use. They are good value for money and to have the police vetting sorted was reassuring.
They clearly communicated who was available to us as a best fit for what we wanted. We appreciated the email reminders about each step of the process and their accessibility when we had any questions.

I have only joined up with The Housesitting company very recently as a housesitter, but I am already impressed with the service to both sitters and people wanting a sitter. They vet everyone carefully, give very useful and practical advice, and are friendly and accessible when needed for further help. I'm very much looking forward to my experiences with this company.

Easy access to possible house sitters with good bio's to look up. great contact pathways to set up meetings with prospective house sitters. I lucked out as I could not have two better house sitters. They not only looked after my dog(12 mth Golden Retriever) but worked with the trainer and continued his development throughout the stay. A few house issues (not their fault) were swiftly and well delt with. I came home to a very happy, healthy dog and an immaculate house.

Two months in advance they organised a house sitter for us. We selected the bloke because we knew him and his wife. Unfortunately with a couple of weeks to go his wife had to return to the UK for family reasons, the situation got worse so Dave had to go over as well so we had no house sitter. This is where The House Sitting Company showed their worth; our account was credited, the job was re-advertised and a good bloke was found and we only got charged the original amount. Things can go wrong and it is no bodies fault but full marks for when the situation is quickly remedied.

Great experience for a new user of the service. We had our dog cared for by the sitter and they provided us with regular updates on his time with them via text etc.

We only had a few house sitters apply to our request but we got the perfect fit for our home and furbabies. We have lots of local freelancers who charge major money for house sitting with no insurance, police checks etc. After a very bad experience based on a friend’s recommendation, we will only ever go through housesitters now. We fe;t so comfortable being away and secure that our babies were well cared for.

I paid $59 to be a sitter a week ago through making a bank deposit.
Their website said the next steps were that I would receive an email. This email never arrived so I rang them today to ask what the next steps were.
I was told that I had to send them various documents for verification. I asked about the missing email and the person said she would let IT know. She then said they would need to know what search engine I was using.
At this point I started thinking this was a scam. Why would IT need to know what search engine I used for a missing email? I asked for a refund back and she said there were no refunds. Only when I said I would report them to the New Zealand Consumer programme Fair Go did she reluctantly agree to give me a refund.
Too many red flags here.

The standout feature for me was the very quick responses that I had from the company whenever that was required.
Because the Housesitter who came was so good I can’t comment on how they would handle something going wrong. But my experience in life leads me to believe that good planning and clear thinking ahead of time lead to this outcome.

The information that you have send through in the beginning to prepare us to be a housesitter. This includes the interview, the encouragement and guiding till the end of the housesit. The whole process gave us great confidence in how to approach and how to do it. Made a great difference to how to present ourselves and the company. The questionnaire that the homeowner had to fill in was a great source to return to for info.
