Interface language[edit]
The ability to change the interface language using the selector at the top of each screen appears to be broken. Choosing another language makes no difference, it always comes back to English. I use it so that I can select appropriate versions of "The chosen username is similar to an existing username or it used to be username of someone else that got renamed" in the renamer interface. Any ideas? Thanks, Cabayi (talk) 07:18, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Cabayi what are the steps to get the interface message you are seeing to appear? This could need upstream work, or it could be a local problem. — xaosflux Talk 09:23, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Is it this message: MediaWiki:Globalrenamequeue-request-antispoof-conflicts ? — xaosflux Talk 09:39, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- I see at least one exists on translatewiki, can you try in es (Spanish) to see if that displays? [1] — xaosflux Talk 09:44, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Note: if the target language doesn't have a translation written, it will fall back to English as that is the base language here. — xaosflux Talk 09:53, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

- Sorry, I appear to have muddied the issue with an explanation of why I want to change language. The change of language is not happening. Hopefully this will explain better... [2] I'm selecting another language, I've tried Portuguese and French, and when the screen refreshes, it's still English. - Cabayi (talk) 14:20, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Cabayi I think I see it - and this is not a problem you are seeing only in the globalrenamequeue, but everywhere? Is this correct:
- Steps:
- 1) Load a page
- 2) Change interface language from English to French
- 3) Refresh the page
- What happens:
- a) The interface of the page is in English
- What you expected to happen:
- a) The interface of the page is in French

- If so, I think what is happening is this: something is broken with the 'change interface language' in general. — xaosflux Talk 15:18, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Which is probably bug phab:T368595. — xaosflux Talk 15:19, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- That's it! I'll watch the task for a fix. Thanks. Cabayi (talk) 16:01, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
