    I got three questions.

    1. How do I add new subtitles to a ripped BDMV?

    2. How do I replace a video from a ripped BDMV with a different one?

    3. I have custom-made stylized .ass subtitle files, and I want to add them to a ripped BDMV and burn them to discs. Will the stylized subs be intact after adding them and burning the BDMV to a blank disc, or will they default to a standard caption font?

    1. Using tsMuxer. But this will not add them to the menu.
    2. Using tsMuxer.
    3. You need something that can convert it to the BD .SUP. I don't know such applications. Converting to .SRT and re-muxing with tsMuxer will give you "default to a standard caption font".

    1. tsMuxer
    2. tsMuxer
    3. ass2bdnxml + SUPer to convert ASS -> BDN XML -> PGS (BD SUP). This is the only way to keep all ASS styles and effects to BD SUP and produce a compliant file.

  5. For item 2 ...replacing a video. Can someone provide the steps using tsMuxeR to demux a supplement video and then remux to a different BD to replace the same supplement?

More details: I have 2 BD's of the same film but different releases. They have identical supplements (with each having different m2ts and mpls reference numbers) but one supplement is damaged versus the other one on the other BD is perfect, so I need to know how to extract the perfect supplement and inserted into the other BD using tsMuxeR.

    TIA

I dragged the ASS file to ass2bdnxml, and all the images immediately saved to my desktop. The problem is that there are hundreds of images, and they're cluttering up the whole screen. How do I change the save location?

  8. Create a folder where you want to store the output, open cmd.exe and type cd ("cd" followed by a space) then drag and drop the new folder on the cmd and press enter. The command prompt should update the location to the new folder.
From there, drag and drop ass2bdnxml.exe onto the cmd.exe, write the additional parameters you need, then finally drag and drop the ass file and press enter. Files will be created in the new directory.

    Could I please have a step-by-step for 1 and 2?
For 1, just drag and drop both the newly created .SUP and the m2ts on tsMuxer GUI windows, in the list of tracks, untick the subtitle track you wish to remove, export to m2ts, done.

For 2, it depends what you want to achieve. A fully working BDMV you could burn to disc and use on a BD player, or just one you can use on VLC, mpv and the likes? If the first, you need BDEdit, and probably assistance from experienced users (ask on doom9). Else, just use the file obtained at step #1 and update the m2ts file with the new one in the BDMV stream directory.

    The former.

  10. Then https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/389834-Adding-subtitles-to-BDMV-Certification-Blu-Rays will guide you. You can still use #1 to produce the m2ts that will be used in BDEdit.

I think it would be a little easier for me to just burn the MKV with the subs directly to disc, instead of bothering with the menus.

  12. ... Then just generate a .SUP file with the prescribed tools (ass2bdnxml + SUPer), and use tsMuxer to generate a new BDMV that you can burn. In tsMuxer, just drag an drop your movie and the new subtitles, remove the old one, voilà.

I followed all of your instructions in Command Prompt, but they're still saving to the main desktop when I drag the .ass folder into ass2bdnxml when Command Prompt is on.

What additional parameters? You mean "video format," "fps," etc?

  14. You must drag the ASS on the command prompt, not the exe.

E.g. it will look like this:

    C:\Users\.....\Subs>C:\....\ass2bdnxml.exe -v 1080p -f 23.976 -c "C:\......\subs.ass"

and you press enter to execute the program. Now, this will output the files in the Subs directory.

What are the best options inside SUPer?

Let's say I want to rip just a MKV with ASS subs directly to a blank Blu-Ray. When I put it in TsMuxeR, a warning pops up saying "Track 2 (TrackID 3) was not recognized and ignored." What does that mean in this case?

  18. BD subtitle format is HDMV PGS (commonly referred to as "SUP"), not ASS or anything else. Your BD player will not be able to decode ASSA file at all, and this is what tsMuxer is telling you with this error.

I don't understand why you are asking that. You have managed to convert ASS to BDN XML fine (even if the files spammed your Desktop). You just need to select the .XML in SUPer, set an output.sup file and press "Make it SUPer". Everything will be fine and tsMuxer will be very happy. Why complicate things?

That page showed me to another instruction guide, but it's from 2009, and the software is outdated.

It's still all so confusing. I wish I had a video guide on how to add subtitles to a ripped Blu-Ray. It's better when I see it all played out, so I can directly copy it.

  22. 1. How do I add new subtitles to a ripped BDMV?
If you rip a BDMV you get a folder with streams that includes m2ts files, a file container holding subtitles, video, audio. Just like mkv but meant for Blu-ray players. Anyway it does not matter. Take your .MKV, .MP4 whatever you ripped from your blu-ray, drag and drop it on tsMuxer with your SUP file and mux.

You are making it very hard to understand what you're trying to do and you give no indication of what you have managed to achieve and what not. It is good to ask question but be specific of what you want, please. And I gave you exact indication if you did not care about the menu in this mesage:
... Then just generate a .SUP file with the prescribed tools (ass2bdnxml + SUPer), and use tsMuxer to generate a new BDMV that you can burn. In tsMuxer, just drag an drop your movie and the new subtitles, remove the old one, [select BDMV/BDAV], voilà.

I did exactly as you say, and unfortunately, because the audio from the Blu-Ray is Dolby TrueHD, I got this error: "MLP codec is not standard for BD disks, the disk will not play in a Blu-ray player."

  24. I am not an audio codec expert, sounds like your mkv is not exactly a Blu-ray rip but some re-encode. I will leave that question to someone else.

In the worse case, you can re-encode the audio to a more common codec.

According to this, the TrueHD track should also include the legacy core ac3. I think it's missing.

    I'm going to use this.

  26. Ah, good to know! Glad you figured it out. You should be all set to burn it to a Blu-ray. Don't forget to use a proper burning software like Nero, ImgBuw. Don't forget that, if you burn your mux to a Blu-ray Disc, you must use a proper BDAV/UDF burner software. ImgBurn should be good enough if you use the right setting.

I finally created a BDMV of the movie and burned it to a blank Blu-Ray using ImgBurn, but when I played it on my Blu-Ray player, the video playback was choppy, and frames were sometimes skipped. What am I doing wrong?

  28. - What's the total bitrate of the generated m2ts?
    - Are you sure the MKV is a Blu-ray rip and not a re-encode of a Blu-ray rip? A re-encode will change parameters and potentially make the video out of blu-ray specifications.
    - What model and brand is your BD player?
    - tsMuxer is not perfect, and some BD players hate what it outputs. Try on another device from a different brand.

    1. I don't know.

    2. I used the MKV on MKVToolnix to add .ass subtitles to it a long time ago, but I thought it doesn't technically re-encode videos.

  30. But how was this MKV produced in the first place? Via MakeMKV?
