Very odd behaviour where David Kendrick from the band Devo is inserted into the Bastille (band) page without any reference. There was a discussion about this here on the Talk page of the band back in July. That involved the editor USAQuidditch, who also added Kendrick to the Template page at the time, here. Today, editor Peterpansshadow began adding Kendrick as was the IPv6 (diff and diff). With similar behaviour at the Template page here. Karst (talk) 16:34, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[]

I've blocked all the accounts indefinitely. no No comment with respect to IP address(es). Mike VTalk 18:21, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[]
@Bbb23: I set the case to Jack Gaines, as it seems to be the primary account here. While Peterpansshadow is older, it only has 25 edits compared to the 8000+ edits from Jack Gaines. Would it be OK to just leave it as it is or would you prefer the older account? Mike VTalk 18:47, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[]
@Mike V: I prefer the older account. If they hadn't edited at all in 2014, it'd be different, but we've had other cases where the master is short-lived and the socks edit far more, so it doesn't seem out of the ordinary to me. It wouldn't kill me though if we left things as is. --Bbb23 (talk) 20:34, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[]

FYI, the SPI cases should all be merged to Tamara787 or whoever the oldest account happens to be. That means that the Peterpansshadow SPI needs to be merged. LightandDark2000 (talk) 06:06, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Quack. Just look at the username and editing behavior, it's a direct giveaway. Also, the sockmaster has been engaging in socking and edit-warring on Wikimedia Commons, so the Stewards may have to come in and Globally Lock these accounts. LightandDark2000 (talk) 06:05, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[]

I personally believe that a CU is important for a Sleeper Check. The sock operator was active rather recently, so we can't really rule out the possibility of new/sleeper accounts. LightandDark2000 (talk) 06:28, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[]
I've gone ahead and corrected the article links for you. LightandDark2000 (talk) 07:16, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[]
BTW, it might be worthwhile to consider an IP block or an IP rangeblock, given the rapid pace of sock account creations recently. LightandDark2000 (talk) 10:14, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Pretty ducky. Koxem918 has edited 8 different articles, but there are four intersections with socks of Tamara787 in a very strange area of interest: a GG Allin album, Mountain Dew, a Soulja Boy song, and Template:Syrian Civil War infobox. When Koxem918 made this edit, I got pinged that I was being reverted, since my previous edit there was to revert the last Tamara sock. So, it's fairly obvious that they were scouring through their last batch of edits to see what they could restore.

Anyway, I also noticed significant intersections with Jack Gaines, who was blocked as a sock of Peterpansshadow. I suspect this is probably Tamara787 as well. I think a clerk would need to look into that--I don't know if any CU data on Jack Gaines would still exist.

Given how prolific Tamara787 has been recently with account creation, I wonder if a CU would be helpful to see if there are any other open accounts? Regards. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:03, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[]

Comments by other users[edit]

If Tamara787 has still been creating new accounts recently, then the IP range should be Rangeblocked. The problem is that many of the socks (especially the recent ones) are created on Wikipedia Commons before migrating here, so the IP range might have to be Globally Blocked in order to effectively curb further socking. LightandDark2000 (talk) 09:43, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[]

You should also note that Tamara787 often socks on Commons as well. Most of the socks within the past year have a significant amount of activity on Commons. LightandDark2000 (talk) 09:50, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[]
Are there any Sleeper accounts (on either the English Wikipedia or Commons)? LightandDark2000 (talk) 00:32, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[]

I added another account: Roverisk122, whose behavior indicates that it is a probably sock. @Cyphoidbomb and Berean Hunter: You might want to have a look at this account. Can a CU please run a Sleeper Check and Rangeblock this user's IPs? Without a rangeblock, he's just going to evade his block and make more sock accounts, as we have previously seen. LightandDark2000 (talk) 00:28, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[]

By the way, if only 1 IP has been used in the past 6 months, that IP should be blocked for 6 months, in order to curtail this user's persistent sockpuppetry. LightandDark2000 (talk) 00:34, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[]

Probable sleeper account, given the name of the account. The username is almost completely identical to another confirmed sock of Tamara787, specifically User:EbenezerStooge1. The account in question was also created less than a week before the CU blocked account with the similar name, making it more likely to be a sock of Tamara787. Please run a Sleeper Check on the accounts, and indef block the named account if it is indeed a sock. It's important to block off even the inactive accounts, because this sockmaster is known for utilizing Sleepers and cross-wiki abuse. LightandDark2000 (talk) 21:37, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Obvious duck, given the contributions and the types of articles edited. Requesting a Sleeper Check, given this sockmaster's prior history of creating multiple socks in a given instance. By the way, if this user has circumvented their previous rangeblock, then a new/expanded rangeblock needs to be enacted. (He is also using the talk page access of his IP Range to troll other editors.) LightandDark2000 (talk) 01:27, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[]

Given this user's hatred for Alan Jackson, and the vandalism at that article, I strongly suggest that someone watch that article closely. LightandDark2000 (talk) 07:17, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[]
CheckUsers and admins, please note the threats that Tamara787 issued here. It looks like this LTA is no longer satisfied with just socking or cross-wiki vandalism. The threats of violence could merit action from the WMF staff in the future. If he continuesd stalking or threatening other people (including the users here) outside of Wikipedia on other sites, then I would suggest calling US law enforcement. WP:DUCK: Picked up where the last socks left off by attacking Alan Jackson. theinstantmatrix (talk) 00:07, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[]

I found another sock. EbenezerStooge31 has already been  Confirmed and indeffed on Commons, but for some reason, it hasn't been blocked here yet. User:Nathanielfirst is another possible sock, but judging from the comments in the archives, it might not be him (in any case, we can use WP:ROPE to see if that account is an actual sock or not.) It looks like Tamara787 is logging back into or moving his older, unblocked socks, due to his recent IP Global Rangeblocks, but in any event, a Sleeper Check would be nice to see if there's anything we missed. LightandDark2000 (talk) 03:19, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[]

Ichabbie396 is the latest incarnation of someone who's fixated on Alan Jackson, making edits like [3] and [4]. See the history of the page; there's no need to wonder whether this is sockpuppetry. Also see the history of User:TenPoundHammer and User talk:TenPoundHammer (and probably the history of my talk page in a few days, since filing this SPI probably means I'll get attacked) for further disruption by a series of vandal-only accounts. I'm just coming here to request a check for sleepers — unusually for a sockpuppet, Ichabbie396 first edited more than two years ago (and another account, ThunderChick23, first edited in 2013), so this person knows to register multiple accounts beforehand. Obviously you won't find any accounts that last edited years ago, but maybe you'd find newer sleepers (similar to Beckethic1944), or sleepers that are editing now in order to be autoconfirmed.
