The World Youth Day 2011 (or in short WYD 2011) is a Catholic youth festival; the international and XXVI edition will be held in Madrid, Spain, expected to be 7 days in july and/or august.
Pope Benedict XVI revealed the location of the 2011 gathering at the final mass in Australia at Sydney's Randwick Racecourse during the XXIII World Youth Day 2008 event.
It will be the second time that Spain has hosted the international edition of World Youth Day. The IV World Youth Day 1989 was held from August 15 - 20, 1989 at Santiago de Compostela and the Final Mass held at Monte do Gozo (E.) for 400,000 people . The theme for these days was 'I am the Way, the Truth and the Life' (Jn 14:6) and the theme song: 'Somos Los Jóvenes' [Spanish].
