English: 17th century Manor House at Belsay Castle Belsay Castle is a dramatic 14th century fortified building dating from more troublesome times in the Borders Belsay_Castle. When peace descended on the area in the 17th century the Middleton family moved out of the castle into a more modern Manor House adjoining. The Castle and Manor House were both abandoned in the early 19th century with the construction of Belsay Hall Belsay_Hall nearby. |
