Responses by state

Government officials responded to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in a variety of ways, including school closures, business closures and gathering restrictions, mask requirements, travel restrictions, and vaccine requirements. In some areas, citizens initiated recall efforts to remove the government officials connected to those policies. Recall efforts targeted elected officials from state governors to local school board members.
