Jose M. Serrano (Democratic Party) is a member of the New York State Senate, representing District 29. He assumed office in 2013. His current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Serrano (Democratic Party, Working Families Party) is running for re-election to the New York State Senate to represent District 29. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. The Democratic and Working Families Party primaries for this office on June 25, 2024, were canceled.
Serrano has served as the chair of the Democratic Conference in the state Senate.
He previously represented District 28 in the New York State Senate from 2005 to 2013.
Biography
Serrano earned his B.A. in Government from Manhattan College. His professional experience includes being a member of Community Board 4, a member of New York City Council, District 17, from 2001 to 2004, and a supporter of the Shakespeare Festival, a nonprofit committed to the arts.

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was July 10, 2014. Incumbent Jose M. Serrano was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Kevin Barrett was unopposed in the Republican primary. Serrano ran on the Working Families Party ticket and Barrett ran on the Conservative Party ticket. Serrano defeated Barrett in the general election.[5][6][7]
