|A successful Nebraska Businessman in both Transportation and Agriculture, Kevin Stocker will bring practical knowledge and understanding of the workings and how the Nebraska Public Service Commission affects the daily lives of Nebraskans. Kevin has followed the actions of the PUS for nearly 20 years. He has owned and operated businesses licensed, regulated and inspected by the Commission. He possesses a clear understanding of the duties of the Public Service Commission and the responsibility of the elected Commissioners. He is the clear best choice to be the Commissioner for Nebraska's 5th District.
- Expansion of Safe Transportation of Petroleum and Electricity - The Nebraska Economy relies heavily on economical electricity and petroleum to produce the crops and run our industrial base. Safe and affordable expansion of energy transportation is a high priority, and I will be a strong voice in support of safe and responsible expansion to support growth. There are several very important issues upcoming for Railroad safety. I will be a knowledgeable voice on the Commission for ALL Transportation entities across Nebraska.
- Development Of Broadband Availability and 911 coverage - Nearly $300 million dollars will be coming into Nebraska for broadband expansion over the next 1-2 years. The 5th District, comprising of the 51 counties in Western Nebraska, now more than ever needs strong representation and understanding of the problems and issues to ensure rural Nebraskans have the same access of digital technology needed to remain competitive on the world stage. Currently, studies have shown the Cornhusker state is lagging behind our neighbors and this needs to be corrected ASAP.
- Effective Management of the Commissions $92 million dollar budget - As an elected servant of the taxpayers of Nebraska, I will use my management experience and explore opportunities to save dollars and most effectively spend the taxpayers' dollars wisely. I will make an immediate positive impact on the Nebraska Public Service Commission.
Enforcing of the current laws on Public Transportation - Currently Nebraska has a growing problem of Illegal Charter Buses, Party Buses and Limo operators. The Public Service Commission has become far too lax in its duty to Nebraskans in allowing this problem to grow. The threat to the Public is that these folks have no State Authority and thus not the proper insurance. The Legal Transportation Companies that properly follow the rules for mandatory licensing, insurance and inspections are at a financial disadvantage in competing with these illegal operators. Also, there are several very important issues upcoming regarding Railroad safety. I will be a knowledgeable voice on the Commission for ALL Transportation entities across Nebraska.
