Haven't tried registering and unregistering directshow filters with this-used it for changing merit of filters
what was happening
1. I could play h.264 files encoded with mainconcept demo encoder only through graphedit.
2.I could not use my beautiful elecard mpeg2 decoder (with postprocessing and double dct precision available) for playing mpeg1 files except in graph edit.
what i wanted
1.play h.264 files in media player
2.play mpeg1 files also through the elecard decoder
what i did
1. Set merit of Mainconceptdemo mpeg splitter to highest rating-Elecard mpeg splitter to do not use (merit values set by software as per my rating)
2.Set merit of elecard mpeg2 decoderto highest-all other mpg1 decoders to do not use.
what i wanted happened
You need to understand what you are doing and to do one change at a time after noting all the initial settings.
Think it can resolve codec problems caused by codec packs-provided you use graphedit to find out what needs to be done -by manually creating working graphs and then use this tool.
