I would suggest try test another drive on the same computer. That one sounds like it is near end of its life for writing to discs.

Optical drive manufactures are to blame for not giving the user adequate feedback when a drive fail is near and immanent. For either read or writing.

AnyBurn has no problems I can find it can do more than what many other similar software fail to do and will do so reliably. And has no bloat to increase the file size.

Noted older versions are easier to work with than newer ones. Such as file renaming and other things that work better easier to use, access.

I do agree with the other posters suggestions for the software.

If poster only has one drive would need to get similar type of writer to try from a friend or other to verify has a bad drive or not. And need to be connected to same system and try with AnyBurn once more.

To blame the developer is wrong more likely the developer as any developer for any major issue would withdraw the release version and replaced with a fixed version.

Repeat it is more likely drive failure. Also failure of Optical Drive Manufactures for not understanding the end user needs. For not to give the user warning of drive failure and also notice when the drive has failed internally. A code will not do it has to be written and in language the system in use is using to inform the user. But also point out over many languages of failure and failed.

I've never encountered any problem with this software or burning of discs with it, but then again I don't have the registry key mentioned in the post below (nor have I deleted such a key).

Perhaps installing other software can install a registry entry that cause problem with some software

But if anyone does encounter problems with this or any software, they should contact the developer of the software and seek a solution that way.

The rating of this post if or Anyburn v5.2 alone Rated Zero percent 0%

Follow on to the previous post below.

No software had I installed for long time or updates. Except I had installed new Anyburn version 5.2 why I don't know. But can say the newer version to the version I was am now again still using is poor in comparison making many actions more awkward renaming and other actions.

I have found from internet searches the probable main cause of writing failures and is something everyone should look at. It will make any session disc a coaster even writing a new session disc a coaster.

Only time a fail never happened was with ImgBurn writing a complete disc with finalize of the disc. Then ImgBurn cannot write any disc without finalizing the disc. Poor writing software for today and yesterday discs where we need to have session disc ability. I don't normaly ever use Imgburn because of this.

Problem Fixing.

I had checked everything to find the problem even using software [ Upper Filter driver Load Order v1.00.009 by busTRACE technologies LLC ] which showed nothing un-toward

Upper Filter Redbook
Lower Filter imapi

Reading the internet I found I hope the problem and the solution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

In This location a registry entry named [ UPPER FILTER hex(7)00,00 ] that I could see. It was in also in other similar registry nodes of the other Current Control Sets. Removing all of these and doing a computer reboot so far all disc burning has not cause any issue or problem.

But also I have not or will be using Anyburn v5.2 any further and likely no future version of Anyburn. Any developer that releases software with such bad bugs is not one to be trusted.

Believe me when I say the computer hasn't had any other software installed except the Anyburn 5.2 update. And has not been internet connected, has no connection ability.

I'm not saying don't use this software I'm saying use for now an older version or look for newer version. Yes I know the developer has a very poor changelog if it is not documented in the changelog choose and decide wisely if to use this or newer version. Or test but have a backup so can revert later if find issues keep checking the registry above.

Or wait to it makes good discs bad or unable to write even a new disc.

DO NOT USE this software it contains serious BUGS and Always has contained serious bugs with BD writers or any discs.

It will error and make discs thereafter not available zero bytes. This is at start of burning. Yes yu could eject and retry sometimes will accept and write but could become zero bytes disc. Or on further write become zero bytes disc.

If manage to write a disc further session added at anytime can make the disc not available zero bytes. For session or finalized discs. To verify after write reinsert disc if seen all is OK if not the disc is no more no tool or any OS will see it.

If you need to make coasters or bad discs use this software. Otherwise use other software.

Recent version v5.2 session disc after importing other sessions gives only short amount of time for you to start writing disc. Else will need again for you to import sessions again and you have done to that point is then lost. Other previous versions did not do this.

Other: Filenames it doesn't allow correct number and limits you to shorter filenames. That said all data disc burning softwares suffer the same, maybe the same code base.

Other: It Would be nice to allow Rockridge without ISO (if possible) So able to write multi-session discs with Rockridge and UDF alone.

Other: The more files you add the longer it takes for Anyburn add files and folder, import previous sessions and also to start burning. This actions with many files will take forever, Anyburn is a slug.

I don't rate Anyburn or any software that has serious long term bugs. Also don't rate any developer that doesn't have a changelog that lists detailed changes made. Saying and other fixer does not make a good changelog details are needed.

better to avoid this developer any any other tools they have or involved with. Bad developers need to stop developing and be forgotten.
