Scope
Why is this property constrained to medicine? I think it should be generic items as also suggested by User:Joshbaumgartner during the property suggestion discussion. I cannot see why it should be restricted to medication (Q12140) and medical procedure (Q796194). — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 22:45, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- I agree, there is no reason to constrain the domain on this property. Josh Baumgartner (talk) 17:38, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
- I also can't see any reason to restrict this to medicine. I didn't even realise it's supposed to be - there's no indication in the label or description. Looking at the constraint report, it seems none of the existing uses are for medicine (33 uses, 33 type constraint violations). @Tobias1984: As the original proposer and creator of the property, could you comment? Either there's a good reason to restrict it to medicine which we're not aware of and both the label and description need clarifying, or there's no reason to not use it more generically and the constraints need changing. - Nikki (talk) 08:06, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Fnielsen, Nikki: I have no problem with expanding the scope and modifying the constraints. At the time of the discussion the prices of medicine were in the foreground, but we haven't started to import the prices yet. --Tobias1984 (talk) 18:24, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Fnielsen, Nikki, Tobias1984: I have expand the scope. For the unit, can we say: instance of (P31) of currency (Q8142)? We want to use this proprety for entrance fees of museums (see that). – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tubezlob (talk • contribs).
- @Tubezlob: Thanks :) It's not currently possible, we have to list each currency individually for now (I asked a few days ago at User_talk:Ivan_A._Krestinin#Template:Constraint:Units) - Nikki (talk) 10:48, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
- Not sure if it's a good idea to put all exchange range on the dollar item. Items tend to get too large at some point.

Why Kčs is not a good value
Why the historical currency Q622599 is not a good value?--Juandev (talk) 15:37, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- It is. Next time simply add it.--Jklamo (talk) 17:30, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
How to represent [unit currency] per [unit volume, weight, etc] ?
I am trying to add data from this page: https://www.energy.gov/eere/vehicles/fact-915-march-7-2016-average-historical-annual-gasoline-pump-price-1929-2015 to the page for Gasoline: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q39558
It is in `CURRENT DOLLARS / GALLON` and `CONSTANT 2015 DOLLARS/GALLON`.
For now I'm going to add these as `allowed units constraint` but this is obviously madness. For every currency (C), and unit of measure (M) there will be C x M possible combinations. This isn't way of adding allowed units constraints that will aid peoples sanity and patience. TFJamMan (talk) 14:29, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
- Rightly or wrongly I've added the units of Current United States dollars, Current United States dollars per gallon and 2015 United States dollars per gallon TFJamMan (talk) 17:00, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
Allowed currencies as a qualifier
Shouldn't any instance of a currency be permissible? I have some data in ducats. Apologies if I posted this to the wrong property
Can this be used for share price
Notified participants of WikiProject Companies
If I want to express the share (stock) price of a company, can I use this property?
It needs to be connected to stock exchange (P414) and maybe even ticker symbol (P249). --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 14:38, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- It seems to me like a stock price is a quantity that changes from moment to moment and we would need to have a property that specifies the meaning better to capture it on Wikidata. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 15:02, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Why not, but because of stock splits, different classes of shares etc. market capitalization (P2226) is much more useful.--Jklamo (talk) 08:02, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
Price constraints problematic—nowism
I entered the price of "1 penny" (this being penny for British pre-decimal) for a 1917 published work, and it is telling me that I have a constraint violation. For works of that period it shouldn't be a violation, so is it possible to modify the constraints. Thks. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:52, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
