Building extraordinary futures for our communities, our customers, our people and the planet.
About us
Marshall has a diverse portfolio of businesses across a range of sectors including aerospace and defence, temperature-controlled distribution, skills and training, and property. Since 1909, our technology and engineering expertise has enabled us to provide mission-critical support for customers ranging from global armed forces and aircraft manufacturers to supermarket chains. We made our name by predicting the rise of motorisation and aviation, and have kept the same forward-thinking spirit alive today. Powered by our in-house accelerator, Futureworx, we are embarking on ambitious new ventures in hydrogen-powered flight, uncrewed aerial systems and connected infrastructure. We are also renowned for our skills academy's award-winning apprenticeship scheme which has helped over 21,000 young people launch their careers in engineering, aerospace and defence over the past 100 years. With a growing footprint across the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East, Marshall currently employs around 2,000 people - all united behind a shared purpose of successfully solving problems that others walk away from, coupled with an inherent instinct to do the right thing.

It was a pleasure to host Her Excellency Saida Muna Tasneem, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the UK and Ireland, at an event marking the handover of the Bangladesh Air Force's final C-130J. Her Excellency has visited Marshall several times in the past, and in fact opened our Customer Service Centre in 2019. We are proud of the partnership we have built with the Bangladesh Air Force and High Commission, and look forward to continuing to grow the UK-Bangladesh defence relationship. #StrongerTogether #TrustedToDeliver

Parked (appropriately) on spot 5 is the fifth and final C-130J Super Hercules we've prepared for entry into service with the Bangladesh Air Force. As Marshall Chief Growth Officer Bob Baxter explains, it's a privilege to deliver mission-ready aircraft in the knowledge that they'll be helping people in critical situations around the world. We're proud of our colleagues who remain ready to serve at all times should the need arise... ... colleagues like Business Development & Sales Executive Sam Durrant. "Being a member of the Army Reserve allows me to continue my military career in parallel to my civilian one," says Sam. "I can stay current, whilst also remaining close to my key focus at Marshall. I’m always wearing two hats, and grateful for the opportunity to do so." Marshall has a long-standing commitment to hiring and supporting members of the UK armed forces community—including those who are currently serving, veterans, or their families and extended networks. We've supported both the #armedforcescovenant and the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme since their inception, and are planning to deepen these relationships in the near future. #ArmedForcesWeek #ReservesDay #MakingADifference #MarshallCommunities Defence Relationship Management (DRM) East Anglia RFCA

This isn't a slip-up by an absent-minded technician—it's a Marshall engineering project that helped green-light the C-130J for production 30 years ago. In the early nineties, the C-130J was in development by Lockheed Martin and looked set to deliver a raft of upgrades over the C-130K. However, many of these—especially the brand new composite propeller-engine combination—needed to be thoroughly put through their paces before the programme could move further. Lockheed Martin tasked Marshall with modifying a loaned C-130K to accommodate a near-production Allison AE2100DW turboprop engine and the now-iconic Dowty R391 composite six-bladed propeller system (installed in a nacelle modified by Westland). Nearly 400 sensors were fitted to the aircraft, engine, nacelle and propeller to measure more than 550 test points. Marshall completed a full flight test programme within the 50 hour target, in addition to air-to-air refuelling exercises and ground-based infrared signature testing. The engine/propeller combination performed admirably... and the rest is history. #ProblemSolvers #EngineeringLeadership #TBT #ThrowbackThursday
