Use Waze built-in for your car (AAOS)

Navigate with Waze from your in-car (AAOS) display without having to plug in your phone. 

Waze is now available on all car models that support Google built-in with Google Automotive Services.

Sign in with a QR code

First, make sure you have the latest version of the Waze app on your phone, then:

  1. On your in-car display, open Waze
  2. With your phone, scan the QR code
  3. Tap Yes, it's me 

Note: Some Waze features and settings are not available from the built-in version of Waze.

I can't scan the QR code

There may be an issue with your camera scanner. Try to download an app to scan QR codes. 

Do I need to install Waze on my phone to use it?

Yes. You need to install the Waze app on your phone and create an account. Once you sign in to the built-in version of Waze for the first time, you can drive with Waze without your phone. 

Note: The mobile version of Waze offers features and settings that aren't currently available on in-car systems. Once you set your preferences on your phone, they'll update on your built-in version as well.

How do I install Waze on Android Automotive (AAOS)?

Waze is pre-installed on some car models with AAOS. If you don't see it, and you have access to the Google Play Store from your AAOS system, you can search for Waze and download it. 
If your system doesn't allow access to the Google Play Store, there's unfortunately no way to download Waze to your car.  

Do Waze voices and car icons work?

They do, but you can only select them from the Waze app on your phone.  

Do Waze moods work?

They do, but you can only select them from the Waze app on your phone. When you use the built-in version of Waze, your mood is only visible to other Wazers, but not to you. 

How can I get help?

You can access Waze help articles from your phone.

  1. Open Waze
  2. Tap 
  3. Tap Help and feedback
  4. Tap Report an issue
  5. Select the topic and sub-topic related to your issue. One or more common solutions will appear.

If you still need help, you can contact Waze support:

  1. Tap Submit a ticket at the bottom of the screen
  2. Describe your issue. If you're using an in-car system, select "The issue appears on my In-Car system", then your in-car system type
  3. If you have any screenshots tap Add to include them
  4. Tap Submit

How do I report an incident along my route?

You can report what you see during your drive and help improve the driving experience for your fellow Wazers.

  1. On your in-car display, open Waze
  2. Tap 
  3. Select the relevant report
    • Traffic
    • Police
    • Crash
    • Hazard
    • Bad weather
    • Blocked lane
  4. Tap Submit

Do Toll & HOV passes work?

They do, but you can only add them from the Waze app on your phone.

How do I log out?

  1. On your in-car display, open Waze
  2. Tap
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Account and login
  5. Tap Log out

Can I delete my recent driving history?

  1. On your in-car display, open Waze
  2. Tap
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Privacy
  5. Tap Navigation history
  6. Find the drive you want to delete, and then tap X
  7. Tap Delete

Can I delete my recent location?

  1. On your in-car display, open Waze 
  2. Tap
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Privacy
  5. Tap Recent locations
  6. Tap the three dots beside the location you want to delete 
  7. Tap Remove

Can I delete my Waze account via the built-in version of Waze?

No. You can only delete your Waze account from the Waze app on your phone.
