Temporary solution for users wanting to disable "replays"
Open a run command ( or open file explorer and click on the address bar ) and paste the following in :

%localappdata%/ReadyOrNot/Saved

• Right click the "Demos" folder and click on Properties.
• Click on the Security tab
• Click on "SYSTEM" and then "edit" and scroll down until you see a checkbox that is empty on the right hand side under the "Deny" column.
• Check the box for "write" and hit OK.

Repeat these steps for the other "groups or user names", Typically, your Windows username, And also the "administrators" user account.

Doing this will prevent write access to the replays folder so that RON cannot fill the directory with tens of gigabytes of replay save data.

NOTE: To re-enable replays you will need to repeat the above steps and uncheck the "write" box and hit OK to grant permissions again

This is only a temporary measure for the time being, I have passed on your feedback however that an on/off toggle would be a QOL fix.

Would be much cooler if replays wouldn't be saved in appdata but only temporarily.
Make it so you can choose the destination of the demos in settings.

Can we also delete the files in the demo folder?

Yup, You just won't be able to write to the folder at all until you restore permissions.

This does make a night and day difference, thanks for this!

Trying to re-enable. Both deny and allow are checked somehow and it is grayed out so I can't change them. The other options such as 'read' or 'reload and execute' can be changed but not 'write'.

All you need to do is uncheck "write" and hit OK, Repeat the same steps for the other user profiles ( your name + your name ( administrator ) + SYSTEM )

This is all I needed to do to allow write access again to the directory.

For some reason doing this kinda changes my ai mod which is very wierd.

Gave me a good FPS Boost, but I´m not able to change my Weapons anymore. I can change it in the HQ but as soon as I´m hoping in a Game it´sstill the old weapon and bottom left says "player left".

Also I can´t reenable it, because the Box is grayed out. I am not able to uncheck it for any users....

I can confirm that when disabling "replays", you can see a message "Player one left" while starting a game in single player. It leads to achievements blocking - you are unable to get some of them. May also cause modding issues and crashing (tested on my side).

We just need a toggle to record or not when entering a map. Solved.

Thank you! THIS gave me a SIGNIFICANT boost in my performance and fps. No longer getting random massive dips in performance.

How did Void miss this. They should have let players turn off replays from the beginning to help players on older hardware. I'm on a 2070S which should be more than capable of running this game.

How would you know you want to record before you even do anything worth recording.

"Ah, starting the map. I can feel the magic now. I better hit record."
"Drat! Another dud. I'll get you next time interesting moment I swear!"
*100 GB of space later and manually clicking record before starting*
"I wish I could stop clicking this."

Eh. Post mission save button, or delete the temp recording if not clicked.

Feel like all of you are blocking access to the entire RoN folder or the read/write/create for the replay directory failing is causing any other initialization ccde after it to be skipped because it's not sure what to do and the devs never properly handled it. 50/50 knowing people.

I'm unable to uncheck the deny box for write when trying to undo this. Now the game isn't saving loadouts, game progress, gun changes, or anything. any idea why it wouldn't be able to uncheck or how I can completely set everything to default here?

Should be able to uncheck in the same way you check the box, It's the same process all the same.

I had them disabled, Saw a performance improvement but I like to watch them to see where I went wrong on a run.
