Watch: Arc’s Speedy New Electric Wakeboat Has Enough Juice for a Full Day of Surfing

You can test out the $258,000 Arc Sport yourself this summer.

Arc’s hotly anticipated electric wakeboat has hit the water, a mere three months after it was revealed in render form.

The new Arc Sport, which is the sportier and speedier successor to the Arc One that was unveiled in 2021, represents the future of recreational boating, according to the L.A. start-up. The 23-footer combines aerospace engineering, EV technology, and innovative software for quiet, emissions-free cruising. The Sport is also faster, smarter, more reliable, easier to use, and cheaper to operate than traditional diesel-powered wakeboats, Arc claims.

The fiberglass speed machine is equipped with an integrated 226 kWh battery that delivers enough green power for “all-day adventure.” Arc says its development team often returns from three to four hours of surfing with 50 percent battery left, for example. In general, seafarers can expect four to six hours of ride time. The Sport also packs an electric motor capable of churning out 570 horses and more than double the torque of most premium wakeboats, according to Arc. The estimated top speed is a blistering 40 mph (software limited).

The Arc Sport has surf tabs that can make waves taller or shorter.

Fitted with a computer-controlled water ballast, the Sport also creates great waves for surfers. It even has three surf tabs that can be adjusted to make the wave taller or shorter. In addition, the boat is equipped with an auto-retracting hardtop tower that was rigorously tested by literal rocket engineers, according to Arc. To top it off, bow and stern thrusters ensure docking is stress-free.

With a beam of just over eight feet, the Sport can comfortably accommodate up to 15 seafarers. The helm features two modern displays that allow you to view video recaps and stats or blast music through the JL Audio speakers. The in-house software also regularly receives over-the-air updates.

The best part is you can put the Arc Sport to the test yourself. Arc is taking the boat on a nationwide tour that begins in Austin, Texas today. You can sign up for a demo here. The Sport starts at $258,000 a pop, with deliveries set to kick off this year. You can reserve one with a $500 deposit—if it ticks your boxes, that is.
