Update April 2024: another update and another shocking failure. Great, so now it's basically the desktop website with a button on my Homescreen. Ok, so they added a search function. And why is the BBC in mourning black? Awful! Update early 2024: At first glance the ability to customise and swipe between topics have gone. It might look a bit cleaner (read lots of wasted white space on a small screen), but in terms of functionality, it seems to have gone backwards by about a decade. Hate it.

Lately ad loading stops the live feed when going from portrait to landscape mode. And of course, if the ad glitches, there's no feed. And I'm still missing "my news" or any feature to look for news or customise the news shown. Right now the app borders on uselessness. And the "about the app" description is a lie. It describes the functionality of the old app that was discontinued in 2023.

Totally confusing boggle of stories. My feed seems to prioritise Formula 1 and Cricket (I have zero interest in these) and there's no way to customise it (like there used to be before the update). Also just loads of white empty space - layout is like something from 2006 - have to scroll so much to see story headlines (unlike before when they neatly fit on the screen in a condensed but readable way). Such a shame, used to be a wonderful app but I've switched to The Guardian now.
