  1. I have a DVDRW drive. I can’t seem to burn music on to a CD-RW disc. I believe that it is a blank disc. But even if it’s not, it should be able to write over whatever is on it. CD-R will work but not CD-RW. Using windows media

What is the rated speed of the media?
What is the brand and media code?

  3. The brand of CD-RW is JIT. 650mb 74 min. Not sure the speed. It’s an HP DVRW drive.

I can burn CD-R. 700mb 80 min. It is the rewritable that is having issues. I am not sure why.

Some of the more recent units (last 10 years) were unable to write to 2x cd-rw media, I have one of them myself.
You can check the details in IMGburn

On the otherhand if you've successfully written to these disks before in the same burner, burner could be having a problem

Did you try with other re-writable CD's or you have only one there you want to erase/rewrite?
In my experience many CD-RW's i used in the past went bad after many (or sometimes few) erase/write sessions.

Of course trying other burning tools/drive like IMGburn or CDBurnerXP?
There was some issue with IMgburn & adware in the past, so best make sure you get a clean/portable version of that program.

  6. I only have a few of these brands. I seem to have better luck with cd-r. This is the first time I am trying these cd-wr. I didn’t know they could go bad as I have never burned them before.

Well, it can depend on the media itself, burner etc., so many factors.
    But what error you get?
If it is not recognized at all as writable media you can not do much of course.
