Hi Guys, I am using Make MKV free version,on Ubuntu 20.04, to create MKV files, then using Handbrake to convert to MP4 . However, all the movies have subtitles displayed? is this a normal function of the free version? I made alot of MKV files?. Can I remove the subtitles? Cheers.

What kind of subtitles do you have now? Hardcoded or soft like srt?
Did the original videos have hardcoded subtitles already? In this case they will aways be there.
Perhaps you encoded with Handbrake to embed subtitles? In this case deselect Burn In in the subtitles options.

  3. The best thing to do is to post a mediainfo report (text mode) of one of these mkv files here.

OK, (1) the original films were basic movies without subtitles displayed. I watched most of them already. (2) I have made MKV files with a free version before (Quite awhile back) on windows without any issues with subtitles. I needed to check if things had changed? (3) I am going to have to check Handbrake, just in case the subtitles icon is in error, I am going to have to come back to you later regarding that. Thank you for the link to MediaInfo could be very informative. I do not know how to use this software, will have a look at it and come back if i can use it reasonably quickly. Many thanks for you input, and ideas, cheers.
