I wouldn't try and flash a crappy capture card,it will still be the same,just look in the threads here for a better capture device.

In handbrake in settings there should be an audio setting where you can choose 2.1,i use vidcoder which has those settings and is based on handbrake.

Makemkv doesn't do any converting and there's no program that's easy to do what you want.

Op never said anything about re-encoding,just use a free program that can do all that without re-encoding,do a search here for dvd authoring.

Might be that the file was 16:9 but flagged as 4:3.Have you tried playing the file on the tv's video player?

The video has to be re-encoded to 16:9 if you want all players to play it normally,it may play fine by some players but if you play it on your tv it will play at 4:3.

Makemkv is freeware till it becomes pay version only.$50 if you want to buy it and not have to keep putting in updated serial numbers.Also makemkv is a video extractor,not an encoder.

There's a lot of jitter in your original mpg and upscaling it amplifies the jitter so i say it's best not to upscale it.

If you do buy it get 16gb of ram,it will be fast enough for video editing.

Just found a post and it's the 115.10.0 is at fault so just got to wait for a fix,unchecking delete trash on exit fixes it but rather have the option to have files deleted on exit.

Anyone else find that updating Thunderbird today that it doesn't shut down after exiting the program so when you keep clicking on it to start it builds up and doesn't start until you shutdown the exe in task manager.
