Infoboxes for merged characters
How does everyone feel about the inclusion or deletion of the infoboxes, for the character articles that have been merged into the alphabetical lists? Personally, I think that we should either include as much information from the filecards in the infobox as we can, or include that information in the beginning paragraph of each character's bio, but not both. Right now, the info is being used in both places, which to me is redundant. Where do you think it is better displayed? Fortdj33 (talk)
Character categories should be reorganised
It's a bit weird that the category Category:G.I. Joe characters actually only includes Cobra characters, while all the characters who are actually in G.I. Joe are in Category:G.I. Joe soldiers. There should be a separate category Category:Cobra characters for the bad guys, but what should the good guys category and the parent category for all characters be named then? That's the problem when the whole franchise is named after only one faction. JIP | Talk 21:51, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
Maintenance
- This WikiProject shows to be semi-active. There is pretty clear consensus formed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero characters (A–C) that there are issues concerning a need for general cleanup, trimming, and sourcing. The discussion includes:
- List of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero characters (D–G)
- List of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero characters (H–L)
- List of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero characters (M–R)
- List of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero characters (S–Z), that probably extends to
- List of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figures
- I will leave notes on the other article talk pages in hopes of attracting more knowledgeable and involved editors to help. Thanks, -- Otr500 (talk) 15:32, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Note: Anyone interested can add their names below as someone that might get involved or be willing to consult at whatever level:

Donald Levine Biography
I added additional info to the Donald Levine biographical page and will continue to monitor the page and update as needed. NeatDoc2 (talk) 00:34, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
User script to detect unreliable sources
I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (
John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.
)
and turns it into something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14.
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.
The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.
Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.
