Ianblair23, with regard to Special:Diff/993399350 at {{flagCGF}}, could you please describe the issues with the see also section? I seem to recall that was necessary so that even if a year was not passed to the template it would still give the correct year-based information. Primefac (talk) 13:33, 10 December 2020 (UTC) (please do not ping on reply)[]

Hi Primefac, I have saved the sandbox version of the template (with the automatic year population) in this article. As you can see in the see also section of the infobox, it is not correctly linking to Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games. Refer to Ceylon at the 1960 Summer Olympics for what should be happening. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 13:20, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[]
Ah, I see what you mean. It was added in because the Commonwealth Games has been held under multiple names, so knowing the year helps indicate which games need to be linked (basically it's an issue for the countries that no longer participate, and stopped participating before it became the Commonwealth Games). I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks for the explanation! Primefac (talk) 23:09, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[]
Excellent, thanks Primefac. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 01:43, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[]

Name parameter

Why doesn't |name= parameter work with this template? Several Olympic Parade of Nations pages state that "The names are given in their official designations by the IOC.", which is not true, but would be true if the parameter worked. August-54 (talk) 16:27, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[]

What do you mean? Primefac (talk) 16:29, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[]
For example, in the 2004 Summer Olympics national flag bearers page, code {{flagIOCteam|SYR|name=Syrian Arab Republic|2004 Summer}} shows  Syria (SYR), even though the name shown should be "Syrian Arab Republic" (IOC's official designation for this country). August-54 (talk) 16:53, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[]
Is it likely that a country would have two (or more) official names over the years? For example, XYZ country is named "Republic of XYZ" in 2004 but then "XYZ Republic" in 2008, but normally just "XYZ". I ask because I'd rather hard-code them and if there's only one official designation that would make the coding easier. Primefac (talk) 20:19, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[]
There are some cases that there have been multiple official names. Libya's official IOC name today is just "Libya", while in the Muammar Gaddafi era (from 1977 to 2011) it was "Libyan Arab Jamahiriya". August-54 (talk) 12:55, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[]

Netherlands Antilles flag at the 1952 Summer Olympics

Hello! Can you correct the error concerning the flag of the Netherlands Antilles at the 1952 Summer Olympics?. They didn't have the 1959 flag right back then they used the Dutch flag. Yours sincerely, Sondre --80.212.169.236 (talk) 20:23, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[]

Our various articles on AHO are... rather lacking, and I'm seeing no evidence of which flag was used before the 1959 flag. Primefac (talk) 17:07, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[]

Hello! Can you check the Netherlands Antilles flag at the 1952 Summer Olympics?. They only played football during that games. The flag which is shown is Flag of the Netherlands Antilles (1959–1986).svg. The flag which should be shown is Flag of the Netherlands.svg. The Netherlands Antilles was first formed on December 19, 1959. Yours sincerely, Sondre --88.89.103.4 (talk) 09:29, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[]

Flag of Afghanistan at the 2004 Summer Olympics

Hello! Can you correct the error concerning the Afghan flag at the 2004 Summer Olympics. The flag i see isFlag of Afghanistan.svg. it should beFlag of Afghanistan (2002–2004).svg. And the flags from the 2008 and 2012 Olympics that is listed is the Flag of Afghanistan.svg. it should beFlag of Afghanistan (2004–2013).svg. Yours sincerely, Sondre --80.212.169.236 (talk) 21:10, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[]

There was a similar discussion here regarding Afghanistan's flag. It would appear that there is/was no standard size for the seal. If you wish to comment on that discussion and see if there a consensus can be reached, please feel free. Primefac (talk) 13:00, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[]

Hello! I see that the afghan flag which is used at the 2004 Summer Olympics is the current one. Afghanistan had a transitional government that year so the flag which is carried in very early in the opening ceremony is the flag from 2002 to 2004. Regarding to discussions earlier about afghan flags at later Olympic Games in London and in Beijing. It should be the flag from 2004 to 2013 which should be listed there. Check the opening ceremonies for Athens, London and Beijing and see what you find there. Yours sincerely, Sondre --62.73.207.204 (talk) 12:37, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[]

Courtesy ping to Mohsen1248, who has definitely done more research into this flag, so as to get their thoughts on the matter, as well as August-54 who was part of the previous discussion. Primefac (talk) 12:40, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[]

Peru, Bolivia and Costa Rica

Hello! Can you check regarding the flags of Bolivia, Costa Rica and Peru at the Olympic Games?. In the Olympic Games from 1996 to 2008 Peru used the state flag in the opening ceremonies. From 1996 to 2016 Bolivia used the state flag. Check the opening ceremonies for those games in question. Costa Rica also used the state flag from 1996 to 2008. Lithuania

Hello! Can you check the Lithuanian flag for the 2004 Summer Olympics?. I see that the current flag with ratio 3:5 is in use. They used the flag with the 1:2 ratio until September 1, 2004. Yours sincerely, Sondre --88.89.103.4 (talk) 10:01, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[]

Based on this thread started by Mohsen1248 last year, the change was made to its current status. I do note that Flag of Lithuania supports a July '04 adoption of the 3:5 ratio, though the design and symbolism seem to indicate that it wasn't actually implemented until September. Templates for nations at the Olympics

Haiti

Hello! Can you check regarding the Haitian flag in the Summer Olympics from 1900 to 1932. They didn't use today's flag back then. I think they used the flag until 1964 Flag of Haiti (1859–1964).svg Yours sincerely, Sondre --62.73.207.204 (talk) 13:20, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[]

France

Hello! Can you check regarding the Flag of France at the Olympics from 1896 until 1956. I think they used the flag until 1958 Flag of France (1794–1815, 1830–1958).svg. Yours sincerely, Sondre --88.88.103.30 (talk) 20:10, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[]

I'm not overly keen on making a change just for pedantic/minor differences in colour, especially when 90% of the colour debates on Wikipedia are whether something is RGB, CMYK, or Hex. Primefac (talk) 20:59, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[]

Mongolia

Hello! Can you check regarding the Mongolian flag in the Olympics from 1992 until 2010. I think they used the flag prior to the colour standardisation Flag of Mongolia (1992–2011).svg. Yours sincerely, Sondre --88.88.103.30 (talk) 14:05, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[]

See above statement about colour choices as they pertain to flags like this. Also, I note that almost no one is using this flag on Wikipedia. Primefac (talk) 14:11, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[]

Belize

Hello! Can you check regarding the flag of Belize. From 1984 until 2016 they are showed with the flag before colors standardization. I think to be fair that the flag is not commonly or widely used you can use the original one instead from today instead. Yours sincerely, Sondre --88.88.103.30 (talk) 22:18, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[]

Based on our article on the matter, it sounds like there wasn't any standardisation during this period, but the fact that we have a flag that was "the official one" before 2019 makes me inclined to use it purely for that reason. Of course, if there was no standardisation then it's likely there were a ton of different varieties floating about, but we will likely never find every formal version used for every set of games so it's more reasonable to just go with what we have. Changing year placing

Hello, I was trying to edit this template in my country's language but I couln't figure out how to make the year appear in the back instead of the front of the games. I have looked in FlagIOC2, FlagCGF, and module:Country alias but still can't find it. Anyone could help, please? Thanks. Hayate891 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 10:17, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[]

Not sure what you mean - are you trying to change the order of the parameters, like {{flagIOC|1934|IND}}? Primefac (talk) 10:21, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[]

Romania

Hello! Can you check regarding the Romanian flag at the 1948 Winter Olympics?. They used the flag from January-March 1948. Flag of Romania (January-March 1948).svg Yours sincerely, Sondre --88.89.14.227 (talk) 22:30, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[]

Hungary

Hello! Can you check regarding the Hungarian flag at the 1956 Winter Olympics?. I think they used the flag from 1949 to 1956. Flag of Hungary (1949-1956).svg. I see that you use the flag until 1949 in the Winter Games of 1956. In the Summer Olympics they used the flag until 1957. ROC

Hello! Can you please make changes to:
1)
ROC. Template {{flagIOCteam|ROC_2020}} would be seen as link Russian Olympic Committee at the Olympics(ROC), not as now as link to disambiguation page ROC at the Olympics(ROC_2020). Code in parentheses must be without year.
2)  Republic of China. Template {{flagIOC|ROC|2018 Winter}} would be seen exactly as {{flagIOC|OAR|2018 Winter}}, not as now with flag Republic of China and with link to Republic of China at the 2018 Winter Olympics. This wish is due to the fact that sources now usually consider OAR(2018) and ROC(2020,2022) as a single entity ROC (fo example: Olimpedia, ROC and Olympanalyt, OAR/ROC),
