Jon Tomlinson (born January 9, 1973) is a former member of the Williams Formula One team, working in the role Chief Aerodynamicist. Tomlinson's former department design and test a range of components for the Williams cars in two on-site wind tunnels, one of which can accommodate a full-size car.

Career

In 1995 he was appointed a design Engineer for Hanford Racing Services Ltd for one year. Until 1998, he became an Aerodynamicist for Swift Engineering Ltd. in California. He became Chief Aerodynamicist for Precision Preparation Inc. also in California, until 2000. He then entered Formula One with the Jordan Grand Prix team as Senior Aerodynamicist till 2002 when Renault F1 hired him as Deputy Head of Aerodynamics.

Then WilliamsF1 hired him as Head of Aerodynamics in November 2006.[1] He resigned at the beginning of May 2011 after Williams' troubled start to the 2011 Formula One season.[2]

Personal life

Tomlinson lives with his wife Caroline and their two children, in Bodicote, Oxfordshire.[1]
