Alanis Obomsawin (born August 31, 1932) is a Canadian filmmaker of Abenaki descent. She has produced and directed many National Film Board documentaries on First Nations culture and history. Her best known documentary is probably Kanehsatake: 270 years of Resistance about the 1990 siege at Oka.

Born in New Hampshire, and raised primarily in Quebec, she began her career as a singer, and released an album of traditional Abenaki songs, Bush Lady, in 1988. As well, she is a member of the boards of Aboriginal Voices, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and Vermont Public Television.

She was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1983 and was promoted to Officer in 2001.
