YouTube predicts BRIT Awards winners – and thinks D-Block Europe will win ‘Best Group’

YOUTUBE has predicted the winners of the 2020 Brit Awards based on the amount of viewing figures the nominated artists have got on the video site.

The company has created a list of potential winners based on how popular they were on the platform within the Brits’ eligibility period.

This means the artists nominated all had to be popular between Friday September 14, 2018 and Friday December 12, 2019.

One of the most surprising predictions is that South London rap duo D-Block Europe could win ‘Best Group’.

Despite being lesser known than ColdPlay, D-Block Europe were actually more popular than the older band on YouTube.

The duo received 111million views over Coldplay’s 103million during the eligibility period.

YouTube is also predicting that Lewis Capaldi will go home with an impressive three Brits.

It thinks that, based on viewing figures, the Scot will beat the likes of Stormzy in the Male Solo Artist category.

The company also thinks Capaldi will win Song of the Year with ‘Someone You Loved’ as this received 80million views on the video site.

Mabel is being predicted as the Female Solo Artist winner.

As for who will take home International Male Solo Artist, YouTube has its bet on Post Malone.

This year's glitzy event is will take place on February 18.

The awards are celebrating their 40th show, since launching in 1977.

The ceremony will take place at London’s O2 Arena.

The show is once again hosted by Jack Whitehall.

Unfortunately you can't cast a vote for your favourite singer or band.

Instead the Brit Awards committee, which is made up of music industry members, decide on who wins what.
