When Microsoft announced our Carbon Negative commitment in 2020, I was supporting our datacenter infrastructure business. I knew that we were signing up for a bold and ambitious goal and it was going to take creativity and investment to achieve it. Through the Climate Innovation Fund, we have invested in companies that can directly reduce our Scope 2 and 3 emissions, such as H2 Green Steel, FlexiDAO, and Heirloom. These are some examples of how we are speeding up global solutions through innovation and collaboration. Sustainability is not only a business necessity for me, but also a personal passion. I am proud to work for a company that is taking action to tackle our shared challenge and make a positive difference for people and the planet. As a member of the Azure Commodity Sourcing team at Microsoft, I am privileged to contribute to our sustainability journey. Our commitment to becoming carbon negative, water positive, and zero waste by 2030 resonates with me. In my role, I've seen how our sourcing initiatives bolster these goals. Negotiating with suppliers for environmentally friendly materials and promoting energy-efficient practices in our supply chain are decisions made with sustainability as the cornerstone. Living in the Pacific Northwest has enriched my family's and my appreciation for nature. Our weekends spent exploring the trails and admiring the region's natural beauty have only strengthened our perspective for strong environmental stewardship.
