Job Description Summary

As President, you'll spearhead one of the top dealers of Heavy Machinery in Western US, serving the construction market. As a premier distributor servicing the construction market, it is known for its comprehensive range of Heavy Machinery, including offerings from some of the worlds leading manufacturers. With a relentless commitment to integrity, customer success, and employee empowerment, the client is not just in the business of distribution - they're in the business of building relationships and fostering a culture of ownership.


In addition to spearheading strategic initiatives and fostering operational excellence, the President will be responsible for overseeing 4-6 direct reports within a company comprised of over 200 employees. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to exert influence and drive growth within the distribution network of a globally recognized leader in Heavy Machinery. With anticipated annual sales exceeding $200 million, our client provides a platform for impactful leadership and significant contributions to the company's trajectory.


Key Responsibilities

  • The President will play a pivotal role in driving leadership excellence by setting the strategic direction for the company, instilling a culture of accountability, and empowering teams to continuously improve. Strong financial acumen is essential, as the President will be responsible for demonstrating sound fiscal management skills and ensuring that financial decisions align with organizational goals.
  • Strategic growth initiatives will be led by the President, who will oversee the development and execution of plans to drive sustainable expansion. This includes identifying growth and diversification opportunities and spearheading efforts to expand product offerings into new markets. People development will be a key focus, with the President developing and implementing strategies to enhance capabilities and drive career development initiatives. Sales leadership is paramount, with the President defining sales strategies aligned with company objectives, fostering strong customer relationships, and promoting a customer-centric culture.
  • While not required, familiarity with the construction equipment market is considered a bonus, as it will provide valuable insights into industry trends and customer needs. Overall, the President will play a critical role in shaping the company's strategic direction, driving financial growth, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Required Experiences, Capabilities and Competencies

Demonstrated Leadership Experiences

  • Over 8 years of exemplary performance in executive leadership roles, ideally within a comparable industry, showcasing a track record of driving strategic growth and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to lead a P&L business, managing revenues ranging from $100 Million - $200 Million, with full accountability for profit and loss, achieved through robust operational and financial management practices.
  • Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Successfully managed large, national customers, prioritizing superior customer service and ensuring the delivery of cost-efficient products.

Demonstrated Leadership Capabilities

  • Proven record of accomplishment as a leader capable of driving top-line growth through innovative strategies, such as launching new products/services or entering complex markets, to generate new economic value.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive bottom-line growth through continuous improvement initiatives, like significant cost reduction efforts or implementing automation to enhance efficiencies, thereby increasing profitability.
  • Track record of growing existing businesses through effective operational and financial management or revitalizing struggling businesses amidst competitive market challenges.
