Position Summary

The National Accounts Sales Director will be responsible for driving sales growth and managing key retail accounts in the deli, breakfast meat, hot dog, and fresh pork categories. This role involves developing and executing strategic sales plans, building strong relationships with major retail partners, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the retail food industry, particularly in protein, and will possess exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.


Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy and Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue goals. Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and prospect for new retail partnerships. Collaborate with the VP of Customer Marketing & Sales to set sales targets and KPIs.Account Management: Manage and grow relationships with key national retail accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Conduct regular meetings and business reviews with retail partners to discuss performance, opportunities, and challenges. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and promotional agreements to maximize profitability and market presence.Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the East sales team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the sales team. Monitor team performance against targets and provide regular feedback and coaching.Market and Product Insights: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences in True Story’s categories. Provide insights and recommendations to the product development and marketing teams to drive innovation and competitive advantage. Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities and areas for growth.Sales Planning and Reporting: Develop and manage sales plans, forecasts, and budgets for the national accounts segment. Prepare and present regular sales reports, including performance metrics, sales trends, and forecasts to senior management. Utilize sales data and analytics to drive decision-making and improve sales performance.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies and promotional activities. Coordinate with the supply chain team to manage inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of products to retail partners. Collaborate with the product development team to provide feedback on new product concepts and launches.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a sales manager or director role within the food industry, preferably in the protein space with a functional understanding across sales, trade management, and category management.
  • Highly motivated individual with strong retailer and broker relationships, professional selling abilities, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Preferred candidates will have relationships with Kroger, Ahold Delhaize, Wakefern, Publix, Wegmans, and/or BJ’s Wholesale Club.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth in a competitive market.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with retail partners and attend industry events.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and an ability to interpret syndicated data (SPINS, Circana, Nielsen).


Compensation and Benefits:

  • The salary range is $140k-$190k.
  • Benefits include bonus potential, health, dental and vision insurance after 60 days of employment, 401k with company match, paid time off, and 8 company observed holidays.


Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will manage our East Coast broker partners and a Sales Representative.


Supervision:

  • This position will report to the VP of Customer Marketing & Sales.
  • The position holder is expected to be able to work with minimal oversight at times, able to confidently handle situations on their own.
