We are an innovative virtual school in Ohio, dedicated to career development and preparation for all students in grades 6-12. Our mission is to guide students towards success in their college and career goals through comprehensive career exploration and pathway programs. Our extensive network of industry and community partners enriches students' learning experiences and offers diverse opportunities across the state.

You will be the operational and administrative leader, driving the school's academic vision and daily operations. You will work closely with the leadership team to ensure the academic success of all students, fostering long-term instructional sustainability through professional development, teacher quality assessment, curriculum enhancement, and innovative teaching methods.

Note: Ohio residency is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership And Management

Exhibit professionalism and uphold high academic standards, celebrating student and staff achievements.

Lead the school leadership team in the daily operations of the school.

Collaborate with the School Board on the implementation of the school's vision and mission, policy creation, and strategic decisions.

Academic And Career Programming

Oversee Career Technical Education (CTE) programming, implementing unique career pathways such as Arts/AV, IT, Business, Health Science, skilled trades, work-based learning, and post-secondary opportunities.

Collaborate with industry and higher education partners to create post-secondary opportunities for students.

Regulatory And Compliance

Manage regulatory complexities and political sensitivities with the board, state department of education, and various political stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.

Budget And Enrollment

Collaborate in the development and management of the school budget.

Oversee the implementation of marketing and enrollment plans to achieve and maintain full enrollment capacity.

Community And Public Relations

Serve as the public relations liaison, engaging with community and civic groups to support school programs.

Foster strong relationships with parents, characterized by regular and transparent communication.

Staff Development And School Culture

Recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified staff.

Develop staff through ongoing evaluation and professional development.

Create a positive school culture involving staff, community leaders, students, and parents.

Instructional Leadership

Serve as the instructional leader, ensuring data-driven academic decisions.

Ensure the teaching staff implements the instructional model, curriculum, effective assessments, and targeted instruction.

Operational Oversight

Maintain accurate school census data, attendance records, and other state-mandated reporting.

Coordinate school-level responses to audits.

Ensure school security and emergency plans meet requirements.

Oversee school technology efforts and recommend improvements.

Parent And Student Engagement

Regularly update and review parent and student manuals, policies, and handbooks.

Communicate the school's mission and vision, seeking input from parents and families.

Engage parents in the life of the school through strong professional relationships and timely communication.

Special Projects

Coordinate special projects like peer mentoring, service learning, and community involvement.

Ensure student orientation and onboarding programs effectively meet the needs of students, families, and staff.

Conduct home visits as needed.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Education or a closely related field, or equivalent administrative experience.

Current Ohio Administrative and Teacher licenses preferred.

At least 10 years of experience in education, including 5 years as a K-12 administrator.

Experience working in an online school in an instructional role.

Deep understanding and its implementation.

Experience with Ohio, including external partnerships.

Knowledge of State and Common Core Standards, State School Accountability, and Report Card components.

Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage confidential information and work under pressure.

Prior experience in online learning and instructional strategies.

Strong community-building and public relations skills.

Knowledge of curriculum development and program design.

Proven track record in operating non-profit or educational institutions.

Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
