Environmental Technician 1 $30.70/hr

POSITION PURPOSE

Develop skills associated with environmental certification requirements while working towards the

target of zero harm and demonstrating Capstone values. Support the environmental team in managing

and mitigating environmental concerns associated with PVM.

REPORTING TO: Environmental Superintendent

Internal

COLLABORATING WITH:

  • Works directly with other Environmental

Technicians.

  • Works directly with Mine, Processing and Outlying

teams.

  • Works directly with other departments around

Pinto Valley as directed

External

  • Work directly with contractors as necessary

Position Responsibilities

  • Ensure you are working in compliance with Pinto Valley Mine standard operating procedures

and MSHA standards.

  • Develop skills associated with data collection, sampling and inspections for compliance with Air

Quality, Waste Management, Hazardous Materials Management, Potable Water, Waste Water,

AZPDES, Storm Water and APP requirements

  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Actively participate in line out meetings and safety meetings.
  • Ability to perform work area inspections utilizing WPE, FLRA or THA
  • Responsible for additional tasks/duties assigned as required.

Position Requirements

Knowledge

  • In-pit driving, radio communication, working around equipment
  • Lock out, tag out and try out procedure
  • Confined space procedure
  • Fall protection procedure
  • Barricading procedure
  • MSHA new miner or AR training

Key Competencies/Skills

5000-23 Required For

  • Forklift
  • Sampling wells, outfalls and seeps
  • Method 9 Visual Emissions Observations
  • Piezometer data collection
  • Data entry
  • Permit/regulatory environmental inspections and inventories
  • Actively work towards earning Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Certified

Operator certifications for Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, and/or

Wastewater Collection.

  • SAP use
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Able to speak, comprehend, read, and write English.
  • Ability to perform other tasks as assigned.
