Become an integral part of Theory. We are looking for an experienced Designer to join our Outlet team. This position will focus on Women's Wovens for Outlet business.


Responsibilities:

  • Design sketches and create proto samples throughout the conceptual design process
  • Research, select and develop all needed fabrics and trims working within Theory vendor and mill matrix
  • Responsible for managing design process to tech pack creation and maintenance, garment fitting and all development-related follow-up
  • Leverage Theory design/sketch archive and historical best sellers to inform styles for current and future seasons
  • Responsible for ensuring that product is consistent with business strategy; interprets concepts and trends as it relates to market demands, company image and business strategies
  • Meet regularly with fabric mills to review fabric selections and identify seasonal fabric assortment for business
  • Liaise with mainline fabric team to ensure all technical fabric information & specs is received and entered into PLM system
  • Lead garment fittings for respective product categories with ability to take accurate notes and convey informed opinions about wearability, end-use and perceived value for customer
  • Partner with Theory sustainability team to ensure all fabric and trim developments are sourced and produced according to Theory and Fast Retailing sustainability and traceability guidelines
  • Create seasonal color palettes and mood boards that align with overall business needs and supports core offering
  • Ensure that attention to detail is being paid to all product during all stages of development through to production
  • Manage proto sample requests, deadlines and all related communication to factories and vendors
  • Accountable for process improvement and seeking opportunities that will positively affect the division/company
  • Responsible for building, updating and presenting fabric and sketch boards to cross functional teams
  • Identify new business and product opportunities based on historical best sellers and current industry trends



Qualifications:

  • 5-9+ years experience in Women’s design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design or related field
  • Strong understanding of Outerwear, Softs and Tailoring categories
  • Excellent sense of style & color and the ability to interpret trends
  • In-depth knowledge of design techniques and processes
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up
  • Flexible with the ability to self-manage and handle multiple priorities at once
  • Must be a collaborative team player with great initiative
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Proven ability to identify areas where processes can be streamlined, and efficiencies maximized
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Centric, Microsoft Excel, Outlook/Gmail, Fabric archive, Sketch archive and seasonal development chart


Salary range: $85,000.00 -95,000.00*


*The offered salary or salary range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and location of the position.
