Job Summary

Augusta University College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, Chair of DNP Programs position. We are the state¿s flagship nursing program, enrolling more than 1000 students on two campuses and at numerous academic-practice partner sites. The College of Nursing, an integral component of the University System of Georgia is part of the state¿s only publicly-funded comprehensive academic health science center including schools of medicine, dentistry, and allied health sciences. The College of Nursing is adjacent to Augusta University Medical Center, Childrens Hospital of Georgia, Georgia Cancer Center, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, providing ample opportunity for clinical experiences for students and faculty. Additionally, the college has a thriving Nurse-Managed Health Center, affording additional clinical practice and teaching opportunities focused on primary care, telehealth and behavioral health. The college offers the full degree spectrum including BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD programs.

The College of Nursing Department Chair for DNP Programs provides administrative leadership for the Department, including responsibility for the general direction of the Department in alignment with the College of Nursing mission and strategic plan. The Department Chair will be responsible for leading curricular revisions in alignment with the reenvisioned AACN Essentials. This position is part of the College of Nursing Administrative Team and reports directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The scope of this position has been revised subsequent to a College of Nursing reorganization. This position is considered administrative faculty with rank, and rank is commensurate with experience, education, and achievements. Rank is to be awarded at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.

Responsibilities

The College of Nursing Department Chair for DNP Programs provides administrative leadership for the Department, including responsibility for the general direction of the Department in alignment with the College of Nursing mission and strategic plan. The Department Chair will be responsible for leading curricular revisions in alignment with the re-envisioned AACN Essentials. This position is part of the College of Nursing Administrative Team. .

Required Qualifications

Doctorate degree in Nursing (DNP).

  • Active license to practice nursing in the state of Georgia or meet all eligibility requirements to apply for a nursing license in the state of Georgia.
  • Academic teaching, administrative and leadership experience in baccalaureate or higher prelicensure education.
  • Experience with technology-infused engaging pedagogical strategies.
  • Background commensurate with the Assistant Professor level or above.
  • Evidence of contribution to the profession and recognition at the national level.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
