🌟 Spotlight on Aamilah Chowdhury, Uplift Summit International Preparatory Alum Class of 2020! 🌟 Aamilah earned her B.S. and M.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and will begin her role as an immunology clinical coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard's Teaching Hospital) this June. 🏥🔬 She stated that her dedication to serving people is deeply influenced by her collectivist culture, which she has integrated into her purpose in medicine. Aamilah recently proudly presented her poster, "Novel Composite Matrix of Engineered Heart Tissues," at the New England Science Symposium at Harvard Medical School. "My favorite thing about my culture is the music and dancing!" We celebrate Aamilah's impressive achievements and commitment to excellence during #AAPIHeritageMonth. 🌟 Meet Kyonna Trieu, Uplift Williams Class of 2021 Alum! 🌟 Kyonna is currently pursuing Biomedical Engineering at UT Austin. As a Vietnamese Chinese American, she draws inspiration from her family's sacrifices and support. "This semester, I had to learn a completely new coding language and develop an app by myself in two weeks. It was overwhelming, but I never gave up. The thought of my parents and family motivated me during the long nights, and the app ended up being one of my proudest academic accomplishments thus far. Of course, none of this could have been possible without Uplift Education. Only through the Uplift Alumni program and the financial support from generous scholarship providers was I able to go to UT and focus on my studies without worrying about paying for tuition and rent. Academically, Uplift thoroughly prepared me for rigorous STEM classes and grueling essay writing, making the transition from high school to college level classes easier to manage and less intimidating." Kyonna's story highlights the importance of support systems and resilience. We're proud to celebrate her achievements during #AAPIHeritageMonth.
