Last week, Tidal Basin participated in the 2024 Hawaii on the Hill event, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii. Highlights included a workshop on resilience, recovery, and disaster preparedness kicked off by Keala Peters, the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii’s Executive Vice President of Education & Workforce Development. FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell spoke first about resiliency initiatives that FEMA is working on and she encouraged state and local governments to invest in mitigation strategies Our CEO, Daniel Craig, then moderated a panel discussion featuring James BARROS, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HIEMA) Administrator, County of Maui Mayor Honorable Richard T. Bissen., and Carolyn Cawley, President of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The panel discussion, closed out by Elizabeth Skillin, Tidal Basin’s Director of Hawaii, explored state and local disaster preparedness and resilience strategies and shared successes and areas for improvement.
