As Father’s Day approaches, Mount Nittany Health is highlighting the importance of men’s health. In addition to celebrating with gifts, meals, and family time, this week is an excellent opportunity to encourage the men in your life to focus on their health. One of the most essential steps men can take is to monitor their key health metrics and schedule regular preventative check-ups. By tracking vital indicators such as cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels, men can take significant steps to prevent chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Michael Culver, RN, plays an instrumental role as part of Mount Nittany Health’s Critical Care Services team. He goes above and beyond for his patients, and is respected by his colleagues. Recently, Michael was honored with a DAISY Award for providing exceptional care to a patient being treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Michael’s nomination read, “Bravo, Mike! You are the absolute best! I am writing this thank you for my husband who shared his enthusiastic impression with me but does not speak or write English. He loved Mike’s care and Mike so much that he has missed him dearly after being discharged and mentions him daily. Some of the words my husband used to characterize Mike were ‘competent,’ ‘kind,’ ‘empathetic,’ and ‘respectful.’ He mentioned this in comparison to times in the past when other caregivers called him ‘buddy,’ an American expression that does not sound dignified to an 89-year-old European male. When I visited and interacted with Mike, I could see what my husband meant. Mike is truly the best!” Read more about Michael's commitment to patient care: https://ow.ly/U4Yy50SbWGZ #DAISYAward #PatientCare #HealthcareHeroes
