GRID Alternatives is proudly celebrating our 20th year of building community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy, and our work is made possible with partners like KPMG US Foundation!
Over the past twenty years, GRID Alternatives has successfully implemented over 95 megawatts of solar projects for more than 32,000 income-qualified families across the nation. This means we have provided underserved families an estimated total lifetime energy cost savings of $732 million since 2004. Additionally, GRID's workforce development has provided hands-on job training in clean energy technologies to over 33,850 individuals, with the aim to build diversity and inclusion in the industry. Today, GRID is a leading voice in low-income solar policy and the nation’s largest nonprofit solar installer. Our impact extends beyond borders, reaching families across the nation as well as communities across Nepal, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
The KPMG US Foundation seeks to create a world with equity and access to opportunity for all through committing funding to support programs that will help underrepresented groups confront systemic barriers – and together, we have expanded access to the benefits of our clean energy economy for families across the nation and for people experiencing higher barriers to employment. The KPMG US Foundation has supported GRID Alternatives’ solar and workforce development programs since 2016, and pledged over $300K in funding to support our programmatic work. Since 2023, GRID has collaborated with KPMG’s Data Citizens with Purpose Program on pro bono initiatives, leveraging their expertise to help analyze our data and generate valuable insights to enhance our impact. In addition, KPMG staff have participated in 15 Corporate Workday events in California and Colorado since the beginning of our partnership, creating hands-on impact by engaging in solar installations alongside GRID staff.
As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we want to give a special shout-out to our partnership with KPMG US Foundation for empowering GRID’s positive impacts. Our vision of an equitable transition to clean energy that includes everyone is made possible by the continued support and collaboration with our partners and communities. We extend heartfelt gratitude to KPMG US Foundation, and look forward to the future of our impactful partnership!
