Cannes 2024: 7 Indian Films To Make A Mark At The 77th Cannes Film Festival

The 77th annual Cannes Film Festival kicks off on May 14. A variety of films spanning genres and countries of origin will enjoy the spotlight over the entire duration of the event. Here is a list of Indian movies that will be in focus this year.

All We Imagine As Light by Payal Kapadia

This is the first Indian film in 30 years and the first film ever by an Indian female director to be screened under the main segment (Palme d'Or).

Santosh by Sandhya Suri

The film by British-Indian filmmaker Sandhya Suri will be screened at the Un Certain Regard section of 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Sunflowers Were The First Ones To Know by Chidananda S Naik

The Kannada short film was made by FTII student Chidanand Naik, who converted a folktale he heard as a child into a film.

Manthan by Shyam Benegal

Manthan starring Girish Karnad, Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah and Kulbhushan Kharbanda among others will be screened under the Cannes Classics selection.

Sister Midnight by Karan Kandhari

The dark comedy starring Radhika Apte has been selected under the Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des cinéastes) category.

In Retreat will be screened under the ACID (Association for the Distribution of Independent Cinema) section that's been showcasing independent cinema since the early 1990s.
