Champion sitters: Why the Dutch sit too much
In a European analysis, the Dutch were found to spend the most time sitting, at an average of 8 hours 31 minutes a day. They might be affected by chair use disorder. Simply put, it is what's otherwise called 'sedentary behaviour' or sitting down for long periods of time. The consequences are extremely damaging. It contributes to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and even an early death.
