The ATS Formula 3 Cup at the Motor Show
(02.12.2009) The ATS Formula 3 Cup is well represented at the Essen Motor Show. On the first Sunday of the event, for instance, the annual meeting was held in the fair’s congress centre and throughout the Motor Show, from 27th November to 06th December, 2009, the visitors are provided with information on Germany’s fastest single-seater series in hall six, at the stand of the Formula 3 Association, F3V.
The Formula 3 fair stand certainly is one of the most sought-after venues for every motor-racing enthusiast. In addition to this year’s championship-winning car, the Dallara-Volkswagen of Laurens Vanthoor, the visitors also can admire the vehicle of runner-up Stef Dusseldorp. Furthermore, the billboard with the photos of all the champions since 1975 represents another main attraction. And at any point in time, a Formula 3 Association board member is on site to answer all the questions.
Never before, the interest in the ATS Formula 3 Cup has been as big as today. So, according to a first calculation, there will be at least 24 cars on the grid of the coming season. “It goes without saying that we are truly delighted about the big interest in our series,” says Cup organiser Bertram Schäfer. “Particularly in these economically difficult times you have to provide the teams planning reliability as early as possible.”
The preparations for the 2010 ATS Formula 3 Cup season are running flat out. Again, the season will feature 18 rounds held on nine race weekends. And once again, the ATS Formula 3 Cup will represent a vital component of the ‘ADAC Masters Weekend’. At the same time, the fans again may look forward to a TV magazine featuring GT and single-seater sport
At the annual meeting, the Formula 3 Association board provided the members a first look ahead. This look ahead also comprised a provisional calendar featuring the season kick-off and finale at the Motorsportarena Oschersleben. Furthermore, the ATS Formula 3 Cup will race at every permanent German racetrack: the Sachsenring, Nürburgring, EuroSpeedway Lausitz, Hockenheimring - and at Assen, Netherlands.
Meanwhile, the race weekends will be even more compact and spectacular than in the past. They will be condensed to two days and therefore, the fans will witness non-stop race action on Saturday and Sunday, in the future. While the Fridays usually will be used as testing days. The Formula 3 Association organises the tests for the ATS Formula 3 Cup and the ADAC Formula Masters.
At the same time, the incentive for securing top results in the ATS Formula 3 Cup has been increased once again, for the 2010 season: altogether, there will be prize money and material prizes totalling €140,000. Inter alia a racy and exclusive VW Scirocco as reward for the champion.
